Take Two Day: Everything you missed on the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo

The Star Wars Celebration in Japan promised—and delivered Star Wars fans a galaxy's worth of content this past weekend. From new films, to series previews to Sigourney Weaver—Tokyo hosted the largest international Star Wars celebration ever seen. But if you didn't have a chance to keep up with the latest news from a galaxy far, far away, don't worry, K. Mag has got you covered! Here are the most exciting moments from Tokyo's Star Wars Celebration 2025.

Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi

For the fans who enjoyed exploring the Star Wars universe through a beautiful animation in Star Wars: Visions Vol I & II, the anthology returns with Visions vol. III, which includes brand-new nine shorts from nine talented Japanese anime studios.

Moreover, James Waugh, executive producer in Visions and Lucasfilm senior vice president, announced a longer series within the universe: Star Wars Vision Presents — The Ninth Jedi. Written and Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the show will continue exploring the story of Lah Kara, formally introduced in the first volume.

The Ninth Jedi will premiere on Disney+ in 2026.

Ahsoka Takes On Season 2

A fan favourite and long-awaited series—Star Wars: Ahsoka presented a solo panel, where showrunner Filoni, producer Fraveau and, of course, Ahsoka actress Dawnson joined in to talk about the show's  second season.

Rory McCann joined the cast, stepping onto the role of Jedi Baylan Skoll, formerly played by the late Ray Stevenson in the first season. Filoni shared the struggles following the loss of Ray, but decided to recast the role due to the importance of Baylan in Ahsoka's story.

A new concept art revealed yet another Disney Bestselling Plushie—Loth kittens. In a confirmed return of Sabine's Loth cat, Murley, the Loth kittens will be a small, newborn version of the pet. Described as not having “legs that are strong enough to walk”, the Loth kitties move by rolling around and becoming every fan's new cuteness overload.

In a surprising twist, Anakin Skywalker himself joined his fellow cast and crew to share more about his returning role in the second season. “Not much I can share, but Anakin will be back for season 2”, said Hayden Christensen.

Star Wars: Starfighter

In theatrical-release news, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni welcomed Deadpool & Wolverine’s Shawn Levy and Barbie's Ryan Gosling to discuss their upcoming feature—Star Wars: Starfighter. Starred by Gosling, this original stand-alone will take place five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Promising brand-new characters and stories, Star Wars: Starfighter will begin production this fall and is set to premiere on May 28th, 2027.

Andor's Cast Talk Premiere

Aligning perfectly with The Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, the cast of Andor took the stage to discuss the now premiering season two. Lead Actor Diego Luna teased the upcoming episodes as “emotionally charged”, promising the fans more adventure, action, and drama. Luna also advised fans to rewatch Rogue One after seeing season 2, as he is sure your perspective of the story will change.

Deedra Meero's actress Denise Gough showcased her acting abilities, showcasing her lovely personality and humor at Andor's panel. Gough spoke on her character's role in season two: “We find out where Dedra comes from this season”.

The panel wrapped with an extended trailer for season two, featuring exciting new footage. Andor season 2 premiered with three episodes on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Baby Yoda makes a comeback!

On another one of Jon Fraveau's productions, the two most fan-beloved, and my personal favourites, Star Wars characters are making their debut on the big screen. The Mandalorian and Grogu are back in a new adventure titled—you guessed it—The Mandalorian and Grogu, expecting an IMAX theater release. Star of The Mandalorian's series Pedro Pascal will reprise his role, alongside Sigourney Weaver—who said she fell in love with Pascal's character, also adding: “Of course, grogu stole my heart”.

The Mandalorian and Grogu are set to make their theatrical debut on May 22nd, 2026.
